I Am The Dog: I Am The Cat
by Donald Hall, ill by Barry Moser
read February 2009
This book tells the story of two household pets from each of their perspectives. For example:
Dog: I am the dog.
I like bones.
I like to bury bones.
As for eating, I can take it or leave it-
but I like it when they feed me.
Cat: I am the cat.
I don't care whether they feed me or not
as long as I get fed.
Sometimes I tease them to feed me,
then tuen up my nose at what I get.
The book continues like this back and forth. Vey poetic in style, but gets a bit tedious towards the end. I loved the illustrations. Especially that big lovable Rottweiler face.
I endure many the dog and cat books because my daughter is enamoured with them. Two dogs at home is not enough I suppose.
