Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
By Douglas Adams
Read Sept 2008

Okay, I read this book at some point in high school and pretty much forgot about it until the movie came out.

Though some die-hard Douglas Adams fans might hate me for this, but I actually liked the movie.  I find myself occasionally singing So Long and Thanks for All the Fish.  Anyways, back to the book.  Adams has a real talent for words.

I really do love his style and this book is so creative and actually very well-written.  I'm not sure why I forgot it, but I don't remember Trigonometry either.

Poor Arthur Dent thinks his day could get no worse, a demolition team has arrived to destroy his home to make room for a bypass.  Little does he know that the earth is about to be destroyed by a race called the Gorgons, also to make room for a bypass.  Arthur also has no idea that is best friend Ford is also an alien from a planet somewhere near Betelguese.

Book Cover-The non-movie version is hard to find!

Ford is doing field research on Earth and knows of the impending doom.  He takes Arthur and the Hitchhike ride on the Gorgon ship.

Arthurs adventures continue meeting up with fellow earth dweller Trillian aka Trisha, and the President of the Universe.

I enjoyed the book, but I've gotta tell you I enjoyed the movie too.  It's kind of one of those guilty pleasures I guess.  For me, it's one of those movies that if you see it on the TV line-up, you stop and watch it.  Like Ghostbusters or Goonies.
