Flotsam
Read Sept 1st, 2008
Flotsam is purely and simply a picture book. There are no words, but my daughter loved it all the same. It gave her a chance to tell me the story.
Basically a boy is at the beach with his family and finds a camera washed up on shore. He takes the film to a photoshop and has it developed (Ha....will kids know what that is in 10 years!) In the pictures he sees amazing things among them a photo of a girl, holding a photo of a boy holding a photo.
He looks at the photo under a microscope and sees that he camera has been around for quite a long time. He takes his picture holding the picture of the girl and then throws it back into the ocean for someone else to find.
This book won the Caldecott Award in 2007.
