Fancy Nancy
by Jane O' Connor, illustrated by Robin Priess Glasser
Read November 2008
The first of the Fancy Nancy Books all about a little girl who is, as the title states, fancy. One big thing I like about these books is vocabulary. Nancy will use a word like 'exquisite' and then say, 'That's a fancy word for fancy."
Nancy is fancy, but no one in her family is. She decides to offer 'Fancy Lessons' to teach them all. They all attend her classes, but find that none of them has anything fancy in their wardrobe.
Nancy of course has plenty of fancy to go around and fancies up her family. They decide that since they look so fabulous, they should go out to dinner.
During dinner, Nancy has a fall and doesn't feel quite so fancy anymore. Her parents take her home, get her cleaned up and tuck her in. I love you's go all around and Nancy, even when she isn't fancy, is loved by her parents and it return, Nancy's parents, who are not fancy ever are loved by her too.
Very adorable story. My girls are hooked on the series.
