Fables

by Arnold Lobel

Read October 23rd, 2008

How can you not love anything by Arnold Lobel.  The Frog and Toad series are classics.  This book is no exception.

It is composed of around 20 or so short fables all with a moral at the end.  The pictures are cute and the fables are easy to understand even for a young child.

It took us two days to read this book, not because it was boring, but cold medicine got to my daughter before the book was through and I felt her go limp somewhere in the middle.

It is on the long side, but because the fables are not related to each other you could read as many or as few as you wanted in a day.  We really enjoyed it.

This book won the Caldecott Medal in 1981.
