Elizabeti's Doll
by Stephanie Stuve-Bodeen, illustrated by Christy Hale
Read November 18th 2008

This book was awesome!  I loved the message it gives.  Elizabeti is a young girl living in Tanzania.  Her mother has just given birth to her new baby brother.  Elizabeti wants to be just like her mother, but she has no doll to play with.

She tries several things, but finally decides on a nice smooth rock she calls Eva.  She treats and cares for Eva just like her mother cares for her baby brother.

Elizabeti is so grateful to have a stone as a doll, it just amazed me.  I was happy to share this story with my children who can sometimes get a bit greedy and forget that there are kids out there with nothing.
