The Devil Came on Horseback

Wow is all I have to say.  My husband who is British is always saying how we tend to live in a bubble here in the US.  He was amazed at how egocentric our news was.  We as a country tend to know very little about the outside world, unless it involves us directly.

I can't believe that while I sit and watch TV, some little girl in Darfur is being raped.  Some family is being torn apart, sometimes literally.  Murder is an understatement when it comes to what is happening in Darfur.  It is purely torture and cruelty.

Brian Steidle, an ex-military man is sent to darfur to "document" some of the happenings in Darfur.  He and others went in with nothing but cameras.  After spending some time witnessing the horror going on all around him, Steidle, came back to the US to bear witness and show what was going on to the world.  He was able to reach places in Darfur that no journalist would ever reach.  His pictures were brutal, brutally honest.  He was convinced that if the world saw this, surely they would stop the genocide.

This is one of those movies that you don't want to watch, but you have to watch.  It opened my eyes and my heart to these people.  I thank Natasha for bringing awareness to this cause.
