So, is this page really relevant to my daycare business, probably not, unless you are looking for some good books for kids!  Some books have links to reviews (sometimes I get carried away and it is a full synopsis) or my thoughts on the book.  If you would like to see children's books I've read broken up by subject click here.(link not there yet...I'm not finished)

For some other great book sites visit Natasha at www.mawbooks.com and www.goodreads.com or my own blog I am attempting (badly) to set up HERE.
My Blog is up and running and I have actually figured out how to post!!

Adult/Teen Novels

I have to admit, I tend to be drawn to book intended for teens/young adults rather than adult novels.  There are some fantastic young adult novels out there right now!  Somehow it feels wrong when I look at the spine of my book checked out from the library and it says "Teen Fiction."  Far from a teen, I can't be alone.  You have to read Harry Potter, the Twilight Series, and the Eragon series.  I do read adult books too!  I guess at 30 I have to consider myself an adult now. :(

Click on the link above or the tab to the left to see my selections and reviews.  Please be patient with me as I slowly add my reviews.

Other Books We've Read

Not all books need to win an award to be good!  Check out these recent reads my girls and I have shared.

Movie Reviews

There won't be many, unless I fiind them worthy of being written up.  So far I have just one.  So I haven't created a separate page for them yet.

The Devil Came on Horseback A documentary about the atrociticies going on in Darfur right now.

Caldecott Books

The Caldecott Award was named in honor of 19th century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott.

It is awarded to the author of the most distinguished American children's picture book published that year.  It is awarded by the Association of Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.  This award was first awarded in 1938.

Newberry Books

Newberry winners and honors are chosen every year out of the abundance of fantastic books out there.  The award is named for John Newberry, an 18th century producer of children/juvenile books.  Along with the Caldecott, it is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards for writers of books intended for children and juveniles.

It is awarded yearly by the Associaction for Library Service to Children, to the author of the most outstanding American book written for children.  This award has been given since 1922.
