Black and White
by David Macaulay
Read Sept 20th, 2008
So, I was really surprised with this book. It was totally not what I expected. I was expecting some story about race or another story so boring my daughter can't wait to get away from reading time.
It was a VERY fun book. The book is composed of four stories all with different illustration styles. It opens up and two facing pages show two stories each. So essentially, the pages you are looking at are divided into four quadrants. The four stories seem very distinct and separate in the beginning, but as the story progresses, the characters from one story start to become involved with the characters from the other stories, including changing their illustration style as they move from quadrant to quadrant.
This book won the Caldecott Award in 1999 and I can say can definately see why,
Really cute, really fun. My daughter wanted to read it more than once and liked pointing out where the characters had moved to.
